Guild Projects

Here is a round up of some of the activities we do as a guild either as a part of meetings, or outside of our regular meeting times. We don't necessarily do all of these each month, or even in a year, but if you're curious about some of our lingo - here's what it means!

Quilting Bee: Members meet after the general meeting, Queen Bee gives out pattern kits for the rest of the Bee to complete and return the following month. Each member of the Bee takes a turn at Queen.

Block Lottery: The guild will announce a free pattern and final size for the lottery. For every completed block you create, you earn one ticket into the raffle. Winner takes all!

Swaps: Members can create a handcrafted item for the swap and get one back in the exchange! Swap chair will announce patterns and when swaps are due.

Block of the Month: A sew-along of sorts, participants follow along a set pattern over the course of the year, learn new techniques, and have the making of a complete top after the program ends.

Charity: Each year is a little different! In the past, we've made blocks for a specific cause, sewn for the QuiltCon Charity Quilt exhibition, made donations to local charities, had sew-ins, all sorts of fun.

Check out the Charity page (coming soon!) for more information on this year's program.

Challenges: From time to time the guild will host a challenge. Participants are given a prompt, certain constraints, and a deadline.

Show & Tell: A constant at every meeting! Bring your completed projects to share with the group, we love to see those modern quilts!

Retreats and Wee-Treats: From time to time we get together and sew for a few days! Retreats and Wee-Treats (shorter retreats) are open to members first - so be sure to join to hear what our latest plans are!

Sip n Sews: Typically weeknights, we get together for some hand sewing! Want to host one of your own? We're happy to send out invites to the group if you arrange a space and send over details!

Sew-Ins: Local gatherings where we all bring machines, have cutting and pressing stations, and members can come and leave as they please for a day of sewing. Sometimes these days have themes, like charity sewing!
